Another successful food blog? Who am I turning into?!! I'd like to thank Pillsbury Crescent Roll for making it look like I know how to bake! hahaha.
Initially I intended on making these mini apple pies...in apples. BUT who are we kidding, I am not about hollowing out apples. I would have messed that up ASAP.
So I went the easier route and made these apple pie pocket things...just for fun. No special occasion. This recipe makes 16 apple pie pockets.
I stole the the apple pie filling from Paula Deen, but tweaked it a bit.
Apple Pie Filling:
Ingredients:
5 Apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (I used Fuji apples)
1/2 Cup of dark brown sugar
1/4 Cup of all purpose flour
1 Teaspoon of cinnamon (or to taste)
1/2 Teaspoon of nutmeg (or to taste)
1/2 Lemon juiced
Directions:
-Peel core and thinly slice each apple. Throw them into a big mixing bowl.
-Juice the lemon over the apple slices and mix throughout all of them.
-Season the apples with the dark brown sugar, all purpose flower, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
That process definitely took longer than I thought!
Apple Pie Pockets:
Ingredients:
Apple Pie Filling
2 Cans of Pillsbury Seamless Crescent Rolls
(Yay for them making SEAMLESS dough! I hate being limited to triangles.)
Directions:
-Preheat oven at 350 degrees.
-Roll out the cans of crescent rolls and cut each sheet of dough into 8 even-ish squares.
(Seamless, YAY!)
-Lay each square out and place apple filling on half of the dough and then fold over the other half in a taco shape and make sure all of the edges are sealed. Keep doing this for all 16 squares. (mine aren't very taco-y, lol.)
-Lay out your apple pie pockets into a greased or stick free baking pan.
- You probably have some apple pie filling gravy left over. Brush it over the apple pie pockets.
- Cook in oven at 300 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Once they're done, pull them out of the oven and let them cool. Or don't let them cool and throw some vanilla ice cream on it... a la mode. YUM!
Facebook and Instagram were loving the updates throughout the day! And my mom, dad, and grandma loved them! Mom loved them so much she went to the grocery store to get some more crescent rolls & apples to make another batch! haha.
After the second batch, I did have some left over crescent dough but no apples. I just brushed those over with the little left over apple filling gravy I had and made little cinnamon apple rolls.
Hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know if you decide to make them and how it goes!

why do you make all these yummy foods when I am on a diet ..ughhh
