Class Of 2013!

Let’s talk about my first day of college ever. I went to the local community college, Palomar College (UCP!) The year was 2006 on a nice summer/fall Monday morning of September…or was it August? Anyways, my first class was softball practice at 10:00 am. I probably left at 8:45, thinking 1 hour and 15 minutes should plenty time to drive the 25 mile distance, and it was. I remember arriving with 30 minutes to spare but ran into trouble when I pulled into the parking lot…and couldn't find an open spot to save my life. After spending an hour going through all of the lots, I finally found an open space! But now I was at least 30 minutes late to class. I struggled to decide if I should go to class or not and after crying to 2 of my best friends over the phone and talking to my dad, I decided not to go. Yep, I did not go to my first class of my college career. Instead I went to the retired softball coach’s office to talk to him about missing class since I knew him personally and was the reason I had decided to go to Palomar and play ball. He told me the new coach was chill and to just talk to her about what happened and she’ll understand. At that very moment, the new coach had stepped into retired coaches office to talk about her first day and there I was, the chick that didn't go to practice. I had to explain myself and she understood…but I had to pay for it and run sprints the following day.

Fast forward 7 years, I graduated from California State University, San Marcos with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies with a depth of study in Arts & Education on May 18,2013!

I seriously couldn't have done this without the support of my parents, family, friends, and work. It’s been a long time coming, but I finally did it!

I've still got a few classes, tests, and credential program to get through until I’m fully legit to become a teacher so here’s to the next 3 years!

Easter Sunday

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. My family and a lot of our friends get together at a lake/campground about an hour north called Lake Skinner and have such a fun filled day.

As with any celebration, there is always SO. MUCH. FOOD. Our potluck/buffet/whateveryouwannacallit consisted of carne asada, chicken, hot dogs, lots of pasta, salad, rice, beans, and a bunch of dessert…including my 1st ever from scratch carrot cake cupcackes [recipe will be posted later this week!]

We do so much during the day and it usually pans out like this:

11:00-2:00 Grub on food. No pictures of that…it isn't very pretty.

2:00-3:00/4:00 Volleyball tournament.

Our net kept sliding down...duct tape to the rescue!

4:00-5:00 Potato sack races, Egg balance & dizzy bat, Three-legged race.

5:00-sunset Easter egg hunt, four and confetti egg bomb war!

minus her dodger jacket...super cute little girl

Such an awesome day! I always have so much fun. How was your easter?

30 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 29&30

Happy Friday and the last day of November! OMG where has the time gone?!! I’m not against setting up Christmas decorations in November, but I guess it’s now officially okay to start decorating :]

Yay for my last 30 day challenge post :]

Day 29 – A picture of something you want to do before you die.
One of the things on my short bucket list is to play catch with Derek Jeter.

He’s my favorite athlete. I’ll admit, I first gravitated to him because he was hot...back in 1998. Hahaha. The softball player in me recognized his talent and his skill is what has pretty much kept me as a fan. His looks have certainly faded…in my opinion, but I still love the guy!

Day 30 - A photo of yourself today & three good things that have happened in the past.

Blah. I look so gross today. I woke up feeling sick so I slept until the last possible minute I could before I had to leave for work. As a result, I kind of look disheveled today. Can I use pictures from this last weekend? I look better in those. Hahaha.

3 good things that have happened in the past…recent past or over the course of my entire life? Hmm. Let’s stick with recent past.

-My grandfather and his family from Mexico are now permanently in the United States.

-My grandma and my aunt's visas [from Colombia] were approved [aunt for the first time!] and will be in the United States this winter.

-My brother’s term with the Army is done and he’ll be home for good on Wednesday!

I’d consider all of these 3 things important because although my family is pretty large, between the distance and drama…we don’t all talk. This is the first time I’ll be surrounded by so much family here in the United States.

30 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 23

Day 23 – A photo of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently.

Blah. I've been holding off on this post because in the grand scheme of things, my life is actually pretty monotonous. Work 3 days a week, school 2 days a week, softball Monday nights, and weekends off.

I haven't made any HUGE decisions lately, and probably won't happen until I graduate school May 2013.

ANYWAYSSSS...

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving! As crazy as life is, it's always great to slow down, even it it's just for a day and chill out with the family. but now it's BLACK FRIDAY! I slept in until 11:30 am and didn't leave the house until 2:00 pm to get my shopping started! I didn't NEED anything, but still hit the shops.

I actually did NEED a new purse and wallet. Mine were a couple of years old and the material was starting to flake...gotta love good ol' Roxy! haha.

I also hit up Toys-R-Us...that place was CRAZY crowded! My cousin is pregnant and her baby shower is in a week so I needed to stock up on a gift.

She wasn't registered anywhere but her mom told me a wipe warmer was necessary. Done. and I added the huggies new born little snuggler gift set which is full of diapers, wipes, and other child related stuff.

A family friend I've known since I was like 3 years old [documented on home video] is celebrating her birthday tomorrow. DIRTY 30! I'm pretty sure she's a little obsessed with monkeys so I got her this beanie...

And since alcohol will be consumed.... a silly straw :]

and last but not least...
VODKA SOAKED GUMMY BEARS.

AND MY FAVORITE PURCHASE...
