Potpourri

A post about everything and nothing, all at the same time...

1) The crack house is about 80% done! We added flooring and tile, and the windows are being worked on as we speak. A lot of our belongings have been moved over. We spent our first night there Saturday. All that is left is painting the bathroom cabinets, replacing outlets, adding curtains, screw on cabinet and drawer handles, and organizing our stuff. I'm hoping to get my TV working by tonight because I'm an episode behind on Ellen! There's still things on my to-do list like replacing bedroom and closet doors, changing the bathroom counter and shower tile, adding tile to the kitchen counter, and totally revamping the back yard...but those will all happen with time. All the work we've been doing was to make the place livable  so now that it is, we're good to go!

2) Remember that Padres game I didn't go to last week? Welp, turns out that was one of the more exciting games the Pads will have all season...besides the fight with the Dodgers. 17 innings, 5 hours later, a Padres win! Not sure if that makes me feel better or worse about it though. Whomp. Oh well.
3) Team USA soccer was happening this weekend. US v. Germany men's game resulted in a 3-4 win in the United States favor, and the US v. Canada women left us with a 3-0 win for the US!
Girl crush Alex Morgan got 2 in the net!
Sydney Leroux "shush-ing" the crowd after her goal.
These two Sydney Leroux images are kind of a big deal because she’s been getting a lot of crap for playing with the US. She is Canadian born to an American father and Canadian mother. She holds dual citizenship between the US and Canadia but has chosen to play with the US national team over Canada’s these last few years/forever. She scored the last goal of the game this weekend and walked around the field a little before grabbing the badge of her jersey, kissed it, and then “shushed” the crowd. According to her twitter, she was called racial slurs, taunted, and family was being talked about. Not cool Canada soccer fans. P.S. none of these pictures of mine, and were stolen from here and here.

4) I am friends with some pretty beastly folks. 12 fb/instagram buds did the San Diego Rock & Roll (half and full) marathon this weekend and kicked it in the face! 1 even qualified for the Boston marathon! Props to all of you because I can't even begin to imagine racing! The last one I did...which was a 5K, kicked my butt! BUT It's on the "things to do before you die" list so I might entertain the idea for next year! We'll see...stay tuned :] P.S. That list has been updated, 2 things have been crossed off...can you guess which ones?

5) Last but most definitely not least, Tim McGraw is this weekend with Love & Theft and Brantley Gilbert! County concert season is officially starting and I bought my tickets a while ago! I saw Tim like 3 or 4 years ago with Kayyy and then last summer up in Anaheim! He puts on such a great show, and I'm super excited to see the other 2! Hopefully Faith Hill makes a guest appearance!

30 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 25&26

Welp. 4 day weekend is over, time to head back to school and work. I think it’s about that time to stress over school…2 WEEKS LEFT! Actually I’m only stressing about one class [US History] because I’m done with the other three [Linguistics, Woman’s Studies, and New Documentary.] History has always been my worst subject and I’m scared I'm not going to pass the class! Ugh. I’m hoping that since I don’t have to worry about my other classes, I’ll put all my extra time and effort into this class. Nothing like last minute heroics!

I didn’t blog yesterday because it would have been boring and picture-less so I’ll include it with today’s blog :]

Day 25 – Your worst habit.

I fidget. A lot. I tap my feet, thumbs, pens, pencils, etc.

I also play with my hair. The reason that sucks is because my hair gets oily after running my hands through it so many times and then doesn’t look cute.

Day 26 – A photo of where you live.

I live in the country of opportunity, the United States of America.

I live in the state of California.

[This was the "art" I was inspired to make after my talent post last week. Newspaper article background [with only positive, happy articles that relate to me and my interests :] of course from the LA times since I'm in LOVE with that city] and then used black acrylic paint to draw and color in the state!

I live in county of San Diego.

[Taken from the Omni, my hotel for my birthday baseball weekend back in September in downtown San Diego]

I live in the city of Escondido.

I’m one of those people that absolutely loves where she lives. San Diego is such an amazing city and I try my best to not take it for granted.

I’m not religious, so I hesitate to use the word blessing, but aside from my family and friends, one of my greatest blessings was to be born and reside in such a beautiful place. I couldn't ever imagine what my life would be like if I was born somewhere else.

30 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 19

Day 19 – A picture of somewhere you’d like to travel.

I would LOVE  to travel the world.
Places like Canada, The Bahamas, Panama, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Portugal all elude me and hope to visit one day.

BUT my #1 travel aspiration is to road trip the United States and visit all of the Major League Baseball stadiums in one trip!

I started planning it like a year ago, here's the map :]
The plan of attack:

San Diego [Padres] > Anaheim [Angels] > Los Angeles [Dodgers] > Oakland [A’s] > San Francisco [Giants] > Seattle [Mariners] > Denver [Rockies] > Kansas City [Royals] > St. Louis [Cardinals] > Minneapolis [Twins] > Milwaukee [Brewers] > Chicago [Cubs] > Chicago [White Sox] > Cincinnati [Reds] > Detroit [Tigers] > Cleveland [Indians] > Pittsburgh [Pirates] > Toronto [Blue Jays] > Boston [Red Sox] > New York [Mets] > New York [Yankees] > Philadelphia [Phillies] > Baltimore [Orioles] > Washington DC [Nationals] > Atlanta [Braves] > Miami [Marlins] > St. Petersburg [Rays] >Houston [Astros] > Arlington [Rangers] > Phoenix [Diamond Backs]

I'm thinking it will be at least a 2 month trip, and somewhere around $4,000-$5,000 depending on who tags along and if I can crash at friends homes instead of hotels. This won't happen until 2014 but and serious planning will start up next year!
