My Feet Hurt

Like real bad. And I have no idea why. It's not like I've spent a crazy amount of time on my feet. Just the usual. But whatevs. They hurt, and it's no fun. In other news, this is a weekend update post...that takes place from Wednesday-Sunday. Because a weekend post is better than nothing. You're welcome.

Wednesday: Left work at 5:30, cruised to OC with Sara, ate lots of sunflower seeds, slept. No pictures. Sorry.

Thursday: CATALINA! Rode some beach cruisers all day. Hung out on some rocks because the beach has no shore. Ate a bomb.com burger and had some cool looking sangria that wasn't as good as the one at Barleymash. Played mini-golf. Sara won. Drank some buffalo milk. But not REAL buffalo milk, it was just a blended boozy drink called buffalo milk.

BUFFALO MILKKKKK!
Friday: Worked til 5:30. Then I went to Keri's softball game with Lime and played Veronica's kids while we were there. Then we went to a 10:30 pm showing of 22 Jump Street. I remembered of the times I had to be home from the movies by 10:00 pm. Yay for adulthood. The movie was hilarious. I loved it. I'm looking forward to 30 Jump Street: Flight Academy.

Saturday: Worked at the Safari Park. Got kept late at work. But not as late as I thought they'd keep me. I was notified that Veronica's kids slept in til like 10:00 am. Which means Caroline and I rock at babysitting. Went to the Padres game after work. I sympathized with the dude who was at a ball game and got caught sleeping. I wanted to sleep before the game even started. I was so exhausted after a long day of work plus driving home late from Catalina Thursday plus being out late at the movies Friday night. But then I had a sangria and a bratwurst at the game and all was better. Sort of. Then the Padres won! Then we went out dancing at Moonshine. Then running around town to get spare keys for me car because I left mine in a different car. And then finally...sleep. For 4 hours.

Sunday: Work. Checked out a new job for my mom with my mom and grandma. Ate Mexican food. And Froyo. Then blogged. Then bought my Dierks Bentley ticket. Then fell asleep.

This post was pretty much just writing stuff so I could share Catalina pictures. Happy Monday kidlets.

Jack's Mannequin

Remember when I talked about about my favorite music over here? Jack's Mannequin was one of my favorites mentioned.

I love that guy. A lot. Enough to have camped out for like 10 hours a few years ago to see him open for The Fray. He wasn't even the headliner! Which was SO worth it because I was totally front and center!

I haven't seen him since...2009? Welp, I got to see him again Wednesday night, and he was just as amazing as I remembered.

This week's show was at the House of Blues in Downtown San Diego which I was super stoked about because I haven't been there since I've been 21+ so for the couple of shows I have seen, I was up in the top seats. This was the first time I could be in the GA Pit all up in the action!

But first we ate some dinner at the HOB restaurant. They have this deal where if you spend over $20 you can cut infront of the line that was waiting outside to enter into the venue. We totally planned on taking advantage of this, but got distracted because it was trivia night and I love me some trivia! haha.

[Sara had a rough  day, which called for shots!]

Once we finished, we entered the venue like 30 minutes after the doors opened and it wasn't packed. Which was a good thing for us :] We were in the 3rd-ish row which normally would be very cool, but I'm kind of a shorty so my view was kind of obstructed.

The opening opening band was pretty freaking legit. I think they were called Erland? Either way, I was thoroughly impressed with their musicality.

Something noteworthy...they keyboard player was really hot. Ready for a creeper stalker photo?

Their guitarist was pretty cool. He was wayyyyy into their music. He was fun to watch...when I wasn't busy oogling the keyboarder.

[Fun guy on the left, lead singer on the right]

The next opening band was a group called Barcelona. Never heard of them but they had some fans in the audience. Two of the guys looked like brothers, and the drummer looked pretty out of it, but was really good.

The lead singer was a really good story teller, talking about sweat pants among other random things.

And now for your feature presentation: Jack's Mannequin.

The lead singer's name is Andrew McMahon. He was once part of a group called Something Corporate (SoCo). You should actually go check out his story. It makes him so much more of an inspiration and gives his lyrics so much more meaning.

I don't smoke anything, but I love that this sticker is on his piano <3

He gets SO into the music, that he's rarely in his seat. And goes between the two microphones the entire concert.

One of my FAVORITE things he does during his shows is that he jumps ON his piano. You read that right. JUMPS. ON. HIS. PIANO.

He played my favorite song of his...Holiday From Real :]

And one of my other favorites, Swim.

We stuck around for a bit and guess what happened?!!

I. GOT. TO. MEET. HIM.
Unfortunately I have a sucky and super gross picture to show for it, but picture none the less!

And some cool merch & autographs!

'Twas a marvelous night. I can't wait to see him in concert again!

Happy Friday everyone! Have a great weekend <3

Busy Weekend!

What a fun filled weekend! This was my first free weekend of the year that I wasn't either sick or working!

Friday I went out for dinner and drinks with one of the CLAMS. It was the first time since NYE since I’ve has booze, so of course we had to share a pitcher of margarita! Haha.

Saturday I went to see my cousin’s 3 week old baby girl <3 I would have made a point to see her at the hospital but I was deathly ill around the time of her birth so that would not have been a good idea! That was then followed by a trip to the softball fields with Caroline to check out a couple of our friends playing while we waited for Keri to be off work, and then that was followed by a baby shower out on the coast which the 3 of us went to!

Sunday I went on a 7 mile hike to Stanley’s Peak at Daley Ranch with Sara. The hike up was rough, but not too bad. We had like a 30 minute photo and chill sesh and then started the most miserable hike back ever. We were out of water, it was hot, and I was light headed because I didn’t eat anything before!

I can’t complain too much because the views were pretty freaking sick. The trails are about 45 minutes away from the beach but we were high enough to see the ocean to the right of us and all of North County San Diego all around us!

Things I learned for next time: Bring more water, bring an apple/orange/snack, eat something small before.

30 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 07

Happy post-Election Day! I understand how important voting is, and appreciate what everyone did in the past for my right to vote as a female minority, and certainly appreciate what everyone in the military is doing to make sure I will always have the right to vote! As a Republican, my vote doesn't hold much water living in California, which has voted Democratic for as long as I've been alive. Not only that, but there were many things I didn't agree with that our Republican nominee supported. I didn't vote for him. I didn't vote for the Democrat candidate either. I didn't want to waste a vote, so I looked at [and investigated] the 3rd option, Liberatarian...and went with him. It just made sense.

Anywayssss.....

Day 07 – A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

My best friend Sara and I have known each other since 4th grade! We've been friends for 15 years now! My earliest memory of us was playing soccer in her kitchen with a Gatorade cap and  she took a shot where I had to pretty much do the splits to block it, which I did...but I also released a fart [or as my linguistics teacher would put it...discharged air] oops. hahahahaha.

It's crazy we've managed to stay friends for so long, because we literally only have one thing in common and that's our love for Zac Efron. All of our shenanigans involving Efron ultimately paid off because after a loooooong night/day at the Jay Leno show up in Hollywood back in like 2008 (?) WE GOT TO MEET HIM! and then cried for like 3 hours after! We didn't get a picture together with him, but here's one with just him and I :] I look so gross, but still love this picture SO MUCH <3
